Laney Barlow

Founder, Certified Veterinary Nurse & Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA)

Laney has worked with animals her entire life, growing up riding and training horses on a farm. She is a Certified Veterinary Nurse with over 15 years of experience in specialty veterinary medicine, where she managed surgical teams and mentored and trained new veterinary technicians.

Building on her extensive medical background, Laney became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer through the CPDT-KA program. She has also completed a 30-hour master course in working with aggressive dogs taught by world-renowned trainer Michael Shikashio, further expanding her expertise in behavior and rehabilitation.

Laney works closely with Cape Ann Animal Aid to help develop training programs for shelter dogs and staff. She is deeply passionate about education, mentorship, and creating opportunities for others in the animal care industry. Through her apprenticeship program, she is committed to supporting women in business and helping remove barriers for those pursuing careers working with animals.

Today, Laney mentors two apprentices who are actively working toward their own professional certifications.
